TheĀ BoostWorxĀ fuel module control system has everything needed toĀ provideĀ aĀ stand alone,Ā manifoldĀ referenced, OE-typeĀ returnlessĀ fuel system.
When used with the low-cost GM, Ford, and many other OEMĀ returnlessĀ PWM controlled fuel modules, the system will provide any base pressure withĀ a 1:1Ā manifoldĀ referenced fuel pressure change for up to 25psi of boost. It will act just like a mechanical fuel pressure regulator would with the ECM tuned in the same manner. The fuel injector does not know if the fuel supplied is pumped by a return orĀ returnlessĀ system.
The key to making this system simple to use is the stand-aloneĀ manifoldĀ pressure sensor that tells theĀ BoostWorxĀ controller how to adjust the fuel pressure.
Just like aĀ manifoldĀ referenced mechanical fuel pressure regulator, simply connect the hose from the pressure sensor mount to the intakeĀ manifold, set the fuel pressure according to the need, andĀ you’reĀ done. Base fuel pressures at idle are typically between 42-60psi, but theĀ VaporWorxĀ controller has much greater range if needed.
TheĀ BoostWorxĀ controller can also be used with any engine that needs to have a separate MAP sensor forĀ manifoldĀ referenced fuel pressure. The system as normally supplied will work with the GM truck and car, CTS-V2, Gen5/6 Camaro, and Ford fuel pump modules used in chassis that have a factory Fuel Pump Driver Module/FPDM.
The fuel requirements for all versions of the Ford Controls Pack for the CoyoteĀ crateĀ engine can be met with theĀ BoostWorxĀ controller. When combined with the Gen5 Camaro ZL1 fuel module, a 750hp naturally aspirated / 650hp supercharged fuel pumping system is easily obtained.
NOTE: The Ford Controls Pack for Coyote engines that a return-type regulator is to be used. This is for two reasons: 1) The fuel pressure must be manifold referenced, and 2) The Ford Controls Pack does not come with a Fuel Pump Driver Module like the modern cars do. The BoostWorx controller does have manifold referenced fuel pressure capability, hence the system will be providing fuel very much the same way as the OEM car. Ford just does not know about VaporWorx since we are the only company to offer a stand-alone electronic returnless fuel system. In other words, no worries!
This setup has been used in hundreds of retro-swaps with good success.
This kit can also be used in constant pressure mode. Just remove the vacuum line or MAP sensor wiring, and the controller will provide a constant pressure. The controller can also be sent in to VaporWorx to be tuned to a specific MAP sensor.
Suggested fuel modules:
- Gen5/6 Camaro ZL1 without the OEM fuel level sensor. The Gen5 typically is easier to fit and connect to. ACDELCO MU2101. 750hp naturally aspirated / 650hp supercharged capable on gasoline.
- CTS-V2 ACDELCO M10235. 900hp NA / 750hp supercharged capable.
- Any Gen1-3 Coyote equipped fuel module.
It is strongly suggested to NOT use an inline filter with with OEM fuel modules except Gen3 Coyote GT500. Final filtering is built in. Some aftermarket fuel filters have a built-in check valve which will cause a heat-soak related overpressure condition that will lock up port type fuel injectors.
TheĀ BoostWorxĀ Controller includes these standard features:
- Everything needed electrically to drive the fuel pump module. No relays, external regulators, or return lines needed.
- Unmatched low fuel level capability when combined with the OEM style fuel module.
- A minimum 50% reduction in power to the fuel pump during idle and cruise vs traditional systems.
- 40A minimum continuous power rating in a compact controller package. Total size 4āL x 2.1āW x 1-5/8āH.
- Over-temperature shutdown with automatic reset.
- Short circuit protection that will operate indefinitely without damage.
- OEM Delphi/Aptiv connections for terminals, seals, and connector bodies.
- All cross-linked polyethylene wiring.
- UL94 rated components used throughout.
- Integrates into the OE ECM to allow all safety systems to remain functional.
- 10-22v operating capacity. Can be used with voltage boosters. The preferred booster is the JMS FuelMax. Lower than 10v applied to the turn on circuit will cause controller shutdown to protect from an AFR lean condition.
UPDATE! All BoostWorx kits now feature the billet aluminum VaporWorx MAP sensor bracket and 3bar pressure sensor!
