Compatibility: Stand-alone PWM returnless system for use with the KPM Streetfigher 1500HP fuel module.
The KPM Streetfigher 1500 is hands-down one of the best aftermarket fuel modules available today. With twin Bosch PWM compatible OEM pumps, fully re-engineered pump support system, additional venturi pumps, safety overpressure valves, etc., it is everything that VaporWorx has been wanting from the aftermarket. It can suck the tank dry with its enhanced active filling mechanisms (venturi pumps) before it stops sending fuel to the engine. The only other aftermarket module in this class that can perform as well is the ALM Performance triple 525lph system.
Disassembly and full testing of two KPM Streetfighter 1500HP assemblies has shown both consistent manufacturing and output performance properties. The engineering brought to this re-imagined ZL1 fuel module is very thoughtful and well executed. Our brother Aussieās got this one right.
Due to the way the pump holder/manifold section is made, there is no check valve in the neck of either pump or in any part of the assembly. Hence, both pumps must run at the same time or else the āoffā pump will become a leak. This means that if the pumps are controlled using a full-power relay system, 30A+ is being pushed to the system. Thatās over 400watts of power, nearly all of which goes into heating the fuel load during idle and cruise. Thatās hard on not only the pumps due to elevated fuel temperatures/vapor lock/reduced lubrication properties, but also on the vehicle electrical system.
The cure? Use the VaporWorx PWKPM1500 pulse width modulation kit. This kit contains everything needed to drive the KPM Streetfighter 1500HP electrically. All it needs is battery power in, power to the pumps, a turn on signal from the ECM, connection to the engine MAP sensor, and installation of the included fuel pressure sensor.
Since both pumps run at all times in the KPM 1500HP module, using PWM to slow down the pumps is very effective in keeping fuel temperatures down and relieving the electrical system of excessive load. Testing has shown that PWM control at typical idle/cruise pressure and flowrates shows power reducing from 422w to 73w, an 83% reduction in power.
Just like a well tuned engine, fuel pumps under PWM operation all have a different sound. The KPM Streetfigher 1500HP is, by far, the smoothest, quietest, and easiest to control system that VaporWorx has ever tested for something of this size. Only the mid-2000ās Ford Mustang returnless pump is smoother, but that is a light-duty single pump, and itās not much better. The 1500HP just āsingsā with the OE level Bosch pumps.
This kit is specifically made for the Streetfigher 1500HP. It is intended to be used as a stand alone control system. No additional relays, Hobbās switches, etc. are needed.
Features of the kit include:
- Everything needed electrically to drive the KPM Streetfigher 1500HP fuel pump in a stand-alone arrangement.
- AnĀ 80%+Ā reduction in power to the fuel pump during idle and cruise vs traditional return systems.
- Fully returnless. External inline filter required.
- 40AĀ minimum continuous power rating in a compact controller package. Total sizeĀ 4āLĀ xĀ 2.1āWĀ xĀ 1-5/8āH.
- Over-temperature shutdown with automatic reset.
- Short circuit protection that will operate indefinitely without damage.
- OEM Delphi/Aptiv connections for terminals, seals, and connector bodies where appropriate.
- All cross-linked polyethylene wiring.
- UL94Ā rated components used throughout.
