After many months of development testing, a true returnless Pulse Width Modulation control system is now available for dual Bosch inline -044 pumps. With a 2/3 power reduction at idle and cruise compared to traditional return systems, this kit dramatically lowers the idle and cruise power requirements, reduces noise, and helps keep fuel temperatures minimized.
Based on the popular and rugged VaporWorx Pulse Width Modulation controller that has been in use for since 2011, the kit includes everything needed to control the fuel pumps electrically. All relays and Hobb’s switches from the traditional system can be removed. The VaporWorx controller has a built-in system for turning on the second pump at approximately 1bar/ATM pressure, so no external switching is required. The 1bar/ATM turn on point is set using a GM 3bar LSA or brick style MAP sensor. For other sensors, please contact VaporWorx.
Included in the kit is a Advanced Fuel Components solenoid valve and VaporWorx restrictor fitting that allows for a minimal amount of fuel to move through the primary pump at idle and cruise. This allows for smooth PWM control. Once the second pump is turn on by the VaporWorx controller, the AFC valve closes and all pumped fuel is available to the engine. Once out of boost, the AFC valve re-opens and allows bypass fuel to flow.
Combined with a noise reduction of nearly 10db vs. running the primary pump at full speed , the VaporWorx PWM control system becomes an ideal solution for vehicles where most of the driving time is during idle and cruise.
